What is up with my new piercing?

Ok, so I got my tragus pierced two nights ago. This is my first cartilage piercing so I’m new to all this. I got it professionally done at a tattoo and piercing shop by a guy who has been doing this for at least 15 years, so thats not the issue. The problem is that after two nights it all of the sudden hurts. I noticed that the piercing wasn’t completely screwed together so I played with it until I figured out how to screw the stupid thing tight again, it hurt afterwards and now, an hour later, it still hurts. My question is why and how can I alleviate the pain? Is it that I messed with it too much or something else?

I don’t think that I am allergic to the metal (because I’ve worn this type before and it’s never bothered me, I’m actually wearing the same metal in my other holes), but I’m worried if I’m either cleaning it too much or too little. I was told to only clean it once a day with Satin (the piercing cleaning product) because I’m so pale; I have no idea what that has to do with anything though, the piercer just told me so. It’s hard though, to completely wash the back so I rinse it for a pretty long time and then I take a wet q-tip to make sure I washed all the product off. Is doing it once a day too little, am I rinsing the thing to much, or is it all just right? I have no idea what I’m doing here. Any and all help is appreciated! (tips for piercings are nice too!) Oh, and if you need any more information feel free to ask. Thanks!

Forgot to say that it isn’t bleeding, there’s no pus, and it is slightly pink (like hardly even so). All I feel is a pulsating pain. It’s not swollen either.

It sounds like it wasn’t screwed in properly was to allow for swelling which will happen with a new piercing. It’s more than likely just too tight. It should be cleaned twice a day though with Satin not once, and what does your skin colour have to do with it? He sounds dodgy. Go back and ask advice from them anyway but new piercings always swell and the jewellery should allow for this.

alright, thanks!

Answer #3

STOP using satin, use a piercing SOAP not soultion, or a cheaper way to go thats just as good is a sea salt and water mixture 2-3 times a day, and ALWAYS wash your hands everytime before you touch or clean a new piercing and definately try not to mess wth it until its healed up.
