What is iTunes TV show quality like?

What is iTunes TV show quality like compared to when you get it on DVD. Are DVDs better quality?

I’d say it’s the same as DVD quality, we’ve ordered many series on itunes. The HD episodes we’ve ordered do seem better than regular TV shows, however, I could be mistaken and they are the same HD as in the regular broadcast.

The best thing for me personally is the lack of commercials and no need to fast-forward them (we used to DVR everything before watching).
