I was wondering is it better to wash your face in cold water or hot water?

You use the hot to open pores so you can clean them out really good to prevent zits and to remove oil. Then you splash cold water on your face to close the pores to help prevent dirt, make up, oil, etc. from getting back in there.
pwincess is correct. I had a friend with gorgeous skin and she used to first wash her face with hot water to open the pores and then after that use cold water to freshen up and close them again.
