what is Eddie Walkers disability In the movie true Confessions?

they said it was a mental disability that would make him act like a child forever. before that I thought it was autism, please tell me if I’m wrong they never mentioned the disability, could someone please tell me or at least explain.

The “mental disability” is simply described as mental retardation. It doesn’t have to be a specific type, just a general slowness that made Eddie unable to mature at the pace of someone his age. This would make him childish, without naming a specific type of retardation.
