What is a casting call? And how is it different then an audition?

Answer #1

I think a casting call is when they put out an ad and ask for actors or something and ask them to take part in some project that requires someone with the requirements that they request like “must be tall, lean, clear complexion and all that and an audition is like when you justgo to audition for the role and get it basically almost no requirements

A casting call is when an agency are looking for a particular person for a role and generally let just about anybody audition so they can decide which is the best candidate. For a casting call, there might be a certain look or vocal ability that you need for the role, whereas a normal audition is just a “you turn up and either you get it or you don’t” thing.

In my experience, casting calls are harder to get, but you get told almost straight away if you have the part. An audition takes a bit longer, sometimes like a week. Oh, and at the END of the audition (please remember after you’ve sung) tell the guy/s auditioning you that this was your first audition because sometimes that says to them “ooh, we can work with this one”

If you’re interested in finding other singers and the like, you could sign up to stageagent.com which is very good I find but it’s mainly theatre so if you’re not into that, never mind lol
