Personally I would bring it up myself. You know he found it and knows about it and he will think it underhand and suspicious that you just took it back and hid it. If you are going to use an excuse then you do not want him to have more evidence that it is you by you being sneaky about it. Just say to him that you noticed it in his bag as your friend had asked for it back and you couldn’t find it.

He is not going to believe that lie that it belongs to your friend. I think it was bad that you took it back. More than likely he probably already knows that you smoke weed because the odor is actually hard to hide.

You are used to the smell, so it doesn’t seems as strong for you but everybody else is gagging. Just tell him that you did used it but it made you sick and got you all paranoid so now you don’t do it anymore but still kept the pipe. Then give it to him and tell him he can keep it. Then don’t do it anymore for a few months and show some positive change in your daily behaviour and school work.

If you feel you’re grown up enough to smoke weed, you should be tough enough to say it’s yours. Lies will not help you in the long run.
