I am confused by this "historical quote"- "...when thou goest home and crawleth into thy kennel, I pray thee, thy mother bittith thee!!"- when you go home and crawl into your dog house, I'm asking you your mother... WHAT? I am completely lost :(
Or it could be a corruption of the word 'biddeth' as in, 'your mother tells you' which would mean, in context, 'please go home to your kennel. your mother is asking you.'
thank you both. That is what I thought, but it seemed a little too easy :)) thanks a million ;)
thy mother bitteth thee roughly means "your mother bit you"
I hope your mother bites you, basically.
