What does " no puns intended " mean?

I keep seeing people type no pns intended after a message… What does this mean??

lol. you know what a pun is right? a pun is kinda like word play where words sound similar and so you can take different meanings from them. when you say no pun intended, you realize that the phrase could be interpreted as a pun (and thus be humorous) and you’re pointing out that you dont mean it in that way. It’s kinda hard to explain.
