What causes red blotches on skin?

Answer #1

Anything from an allergic reaction to hives can cause red blotches. If you get them, review what you ate, medicines used, and drugs taken. If it continues or becomes itchy, irritated or swells up, contact your doctor immediately. If you feel unwell, contact a doctor or 911 right away.

Though the most common cause of red blotches from what I’ve read before is rosacea.

Answer #2

I have red blotches under my skin, but not on top of my skin. They feel hot all over and some time itchy. They begin on my chest to the top of my feet.

Answer #3

There’s such a wide range of possibilities that it’s difficult to cut it down to only a few options. It could be hives, an allergic reaction, a chemical burn, chafing, eczema … the list goes on. If it persists or is painful to touch, you should see your doctor.
