What are the Buffy The Vampire Slayer books like?

So I only read the first two Twilight books because I wanted to read the book before I saw the movies and that was the only reason I read them. I wouldn’t read them again and found them boring. Sorry Twilight fans! I’ve read Interview With the Vampire though and like it, I like other world kinda fantasy I suppose. Anyway, I was thinking about reading the Buffy books, something inbetween Interview With the Vampire and Twilight…or are those books pretty cheesy and more about the teens lives than vampire stuff?? What are they mostly about? Romance?
