What are 5 reasons to trust the governement and 5 reasons not to trust...yes it's for a research paper..lol.
The reason there is so much mistrust in the government is because conservatives have so successfully painted the picture that government can't do anything well. And when they get into power, the prove it though there own incompetence and mismanagement.
Government should never be fully trusted. That is why the founders included separation of powers with checks & balances. There was meant to be complete transparency in the way government operates.. That has diminished over time, and the people have become complacent and disinterested. That it until it starts hitting them in the wallet.
I think Obama is a different kind of politician, and that is why conservatives are fighting back so hard and nasty.

These examples are reason enough not to trust the U.S. government.
Reasons to trust the U.S. govt?... Depends... How far I can throw the corpulent congressional collective... and the lack of lobbyists lurking betwixt us.
I haven't trusted the government (during Democratic or Repulican terms) for 40 years...and nobody had to "paint" a picture...It's there for "seeing"...It doesn't matter if it's Conservtives or Liberals...they are all human beings, and suffer from mass amounts of self-interest...It makes no difference which side of the aisle they are on...
Other than being a smooth talker,I don't think Obama is any different than the rest of them...

reasons not to trust 1. a bunch of rotten, lying , stealing idiots 2. steal money from you 3. give you false promises 4. the goverment is like condoms, they give you a false sence of security while you get screw#d lol
You might want to consider a different approach to your paper. Why not study how public trust in the US government has changed over time? Americans have had different levels of trust in the government throughout history. That might be a more interesting topic.
