What are some return excuses for Apple devices?

Okay so when I got my ipod touch 3gen it comes with a 3.1.2 firmware software. I had my ipod jailbroken. Every so often I like to back up and restore my ipod touch and re-jailbreak. The problem is that the last time I restored it, I accidentally agreed to retore it with the lastest firmware 3.1.3 and the jailbreak only allows 3.1.2. So this upgrade completly removed all my amazing apps that only a jailbreak allows. Belive me, I’ve tried everything to downgrade it, and nothing ever works. Now, I just have a regular looking ipod touch with basic apps. I’m so bummed. That leads me to my question; I need to figure out a good excuse to return my ipod touch in for a new one so I have the 3.1.2 firmware so I can jailbreak it! If you are a fellow jailbrake user…you could only imagine how sad I am without my amzing apps…soo pleaseee, help me think of an excuse!

And I was just notified that now, new iPod touches come with the latest firmware 3.1.3 so sadly my plan wouldn’t of worked even if I had a good excuse.

But can they really tell if the iPod has been jailbroken after you restore it? It’s pretty much brand new, no? That’s why I asked but I guess I expected those answers. Thanks anyway! (:

You can get litigated by Apple if you hand them over an iPod that has been previously jailbroken. And do the reset thing with holding down home and power for 15 seconds, it will revert it back to the most primitive firmware, I believe. *Also, the anon user who previously answered this question is right. You invalidated the warranty/guarantee by modifying it.

I very much doubt you will be able to return it. As it’s been jail broken you’ve probably invalidated the consumer rights you would have with an unmodified device. Or at least that would be the case in the UK.
