I think it’s a sweet idea, but make sure you know the lyrics and words well. Also, you might try singing in front of a trusted friend (not your mom!) and ask them to give you an honest opinion of your voice. If all goes well, then go for it!

Might be. Depends how you’re going about it and how close you are. I’m sorry, but if some guy I barely knew came up to me and sang me a song, I would find it weird. Could you provide more detail?
