I don’t think anyone but myself will ever know how I am feeling right now…

Answer #1

Some people find comfort in feeling sad because it feels familiar.

Answer #2

Agreed … it gets to the point where people are so comfortable in their misery that they don’t want to even try to make things better.

Answer #3

I aggree with Evil Elmo and Colleen and also might add that you could be enjoying the “sensation” of being depressed. I’ve been there sometimes and liked it because it made me creative and I wrote songs or got into my guitar more, but I don’t recommend staying that way all the time because it can harm you. Try and have balance.

Answer #4

There’s a song called Im Only Hapoy when it Rains by Garbage. It relates to that.

Answer #5

I can relate to what your saying, again I think because it’s something I know, kinda like a comfort zone.

Answer #6

Answer #7

Depressed and sad are not the same. Sadness, or grief, comes and goes as part of the constant flow of shifting emotions that flow through you (that’s why we call them emotions). Depression is when you get stuck for a long period of time in a low state in which that flow of emotions is blocked. The low feeling has more to do with that blockage of emotional energy and aliveness than with grief. You haven’t said very much about what’s going on for you, but here’s what it sounds like to me: You are repeatedly listening to that song not because it is depressing, but because it breaks through your “normal” state of depression and lets you reach down to your true grief that has been mostly bottled up inside you, hidden from you by depression’s wall of numbness. What you enjoy is the emotional release, the ability to come alive again for a few mintues through the song. If what I’m saying rings true to you, try to use the sadness you experience from the song as a way to tap into your own buried grief, with all the personal memories, associations, thoughts, physical sensations, etc. that it holds for you. The more you let yourself feel your own grief, the more you will free up the flow of your emotions and become able to feel your hidden joy, longing, serenity, and all the rest, too. In other words, the more you will come fully alive.
