Someone ask me if they should turn off their video camera attached to the computer when they are not using it. They were told that if they didn't, it was possible that someone could hack into their computer, activate the camera, and watch what was happening in the room. I don't think this is possible, but I can't find any information about it. Can anyone tell me if this is true?
It is possible, but highly unlikely. The chances are that anyone with that kind of ability would have the motivation to hack your particular cam.
If you ever break up with a bitter and obsessive computer hacker, then it's time to worry.
People can hack into your line for calls--if you receive a call from someone you don't know you shouldn't answer it. As for being able to actually take over the web-cam and "spy' on you, that I haven't heard of.
Think about it: Why wouldn't it be possible? If its like a laptop or something with the little camera built in, put a peice of tape over it. Just put tape overit and then no one can see anything.
no that is a bunch of bs
