Why can't I upload a photo in my answers?

Whenever I upload a photo in one of my answers, it shows up as a box with a shadow figure in it, that says “ask for my pic” or something. Am I doing something wrong?

Are you uploading in the proper format (.jpg, .gif, .png)? Don’t forget to add a title and choose a category.

This error is most likely because of either a corrupt file or an unsupported file, if you are trying to upload a .gif file this will hapen, but if you are trying to upload a .jpg, .bmp, .png, then your file is most likely corrupt check the file and try again.

Colleen, I tried to upload a screen shot from my computer from using the paint program and saving it. I saved it in “my pictures” do you think it could have been the wrong format?

There wasn’t an option to select a category or title. I just checked.

Paint saves files as a .bmp by default and we don’t accept that file format. Double-check to make sure it’s not a .bmp. Check the photo on the next comment - that’s what you should be looking for.
