Unpaid work

My girlfriend works as a joint manageress of a small business, a home lighting shop, a bona fida place, paid quite well, bossed an owned by a genuine good businessman.

The thing is one evening after cashing up, my girlfriend lost nearly £400, she thinks she mustve dropped it. Anyway her boss asked her to work one friday in each month unpaid to make up for it. Which she agreed, im not sure its legal to force her...anyone shine any light..lol on this

Wow 400 bucks is a lot too lose. If she doesnt have a clue where the money is why would she do the extra work? That just makes her sound guilty. Tell her to tell the boss that he has no right to do this to her when she had nothing to do with the money going missing. Its not right! I wouldnt do it to one of my staff unless I knew she had taken it and if I knew she stole from me I would sack her.

Answer #2

hunni, she was in charge when it went missing, so she feels guilty..she mustve dropped the bundle of notes.

Answer #3

no its not legal to force her but if she lost the business money it probably is only fair to do some overtime atleast :) unpaid of course. though this shouldnt be for too long if it was just 400 went missing
