Depending on the severity of your crime and the type of visa you are applying for.

Common sense prevails if you done something really bad in your own country, our immigration officials wouldnt be silly to let you in, they do have a duty of care to the citizens residing in our gorgeous country.

i think you should consult an Australian government registered agent as australian law are very complicated and are constantly changing
