What do i do when my touchpad is not working?

its like the laptop has a mind of its own and opens everything all at once?

Answer #1

I would start it in safe mode and see if it still does this.

Answer #2

whats the model of the laptop? did you maybe turn it off i know hp touchpads have a on and off switch at the corner of the touchpad

if thats not it you could try restarting the computer while its off unplug it and take out battery wait a minute then only plug it back in with the cable and see if its working then if that doesnt work you may need to uninstal the drivers and reinstall them

Answer #3

its a acer

Answer #4

Start it in safe mode and see if it happens then, then reason is safe mode only allow the programs to start that your computer has to have. this way you can see if something got install, IE like a virus.

Answer #5

i read that some acers had a toggle on and off… the most common i saw was hitting Fn+F7 to turn it off and on

Answer #6

Like chris said you could try booting into safe mode ( usually done by tapping F8 as soon as you turn the computer on) and slect safe mode if the touchpad is working in safe mode it could def mean that something was installed of changed that caused it to happen.. at that point you could try running a system restore to reverse what was installed

Answer #7

Every acer I have ever used has done that. Its like the touchpad is just way to sensitive or something. My boyfriend has one and he just turns the touch pad off and uses his own mouse.

Answer #8

That is a great work around, but kinda ruins the purpose of a laptop.
