Yes they do earn massive pay cheques and deserve every dollars and cents. They have a special talent, they train hard, have an image to live up too and are pushed into the public eyes, becoming role models whether they want to or not, they are humans after all….So yes, they should be paid for what they are worth. If you can bring home a champion cup for the club because he or she is sooo good at their sport, why not. :)

I agree with Samantha. The thing about Sports Stars is that they are a commodity (I know it’s hard to imagine it like this). They bring in so much money in advertising, game attendance, television revenue,and even tourism, that it’s only fair if they see a pretty decent share of that. Not only that, but they are tough to replace. You can’t dress up a bunch of average athletes in professional uniforms and expect people to watch.

I do believe that in certain sports, however some athletes do receive too hefty a check, while in others, athletes are far underpaid.
