Don't you have to be friends to be in love?

to be IN LOVE with someone, do you have to be their friend. doesn’t mean you’re going out with them.. I just mean.. when someone says, “I’m in love with him”.. but they’re not really friends. what do you think? :D

true. thanks :) the thing is theres this guy, I like.. I’ve known him since I was like six, however.. we talk, and we get along we have some laughs and stuff, but.. I wouldn’t call him up and say, “hey want to hang out” so we’re sorta friends. but yeah, thanks :)

Either way, to say that you are “in love” with someone, you do have to know them and be their friend, otherwise you are just infatuated with them!

I think the phrase “I love you” is often used too loosely in today’s day in age. Besides family and very close friends, I’ve only ever said “I love you” to about 3 partners I’ve had. I’ve had friends I went to school with who would be dating a boy for a week and saying “I love him sooo much!”. I honestly don’t think you can truly love someone if you don’t know them, and I’ve seen some people tell each other “I love you” when they don’t even know the middle name of the person they “love”.
