What Is TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder)?

My friend, who I sometimes ask questions for, has been having pain in her jaw, and at first, we both thought (including her parents) it was her wisdom teeth. She went to the dentist and they told her that there might be a virus or infection in her jaw. She went to the emergency room, and before she went, we looked up the possibility of her having the mumps. She doesn’t have them, but she might have something called TMJ. It has something to do with her jaw, and it may require surgery to fix. Does anyone know what TMJ is?

Answer #1

It’s a jaw disorder, basically when your jaw locks and pops, you can get headaches and ear aches from it as well.
