Titles and Tags question...

Today, my father transfered the title of my car into my name (only my name.) my parents are divorced, so when the lady asked where she should have the title sent to, he said his addresss… I didnt think anything of it.

||Background: I like with my mother… and my dad has huge bipolar tendencys. My mom and dads divorce is coming to an end after 5 long years… and the settlements are being worked out and whatnot… my dad has given me the car…taken it back…given it to me… taken it back… and this past week he has been in a huge rush to transfer the title to me…making me, and my mother both very suspicious.||

BUT so, we got back to his house…and he said “yeah, ill just keep the title here for you so you wont hafta worry about loosing it” (I go back and forth from living at college to living with my mom). but… then I asked “oh, I thought you were suppost to leave it in the car with your insurance papers”… he laughed and said “ohh no. if your car gets stolen and the papers are in it… the person who has the papers can say that you gave it to them as a gift, and you’ll be screwed.”

SO. I have very little trust in my father… you can trust him to a point… but he’ll screw anyone over to get revenge/hurt my mom… he’s done this to me and my sister several times…

im worried that him having possession of my title is going to end up being a bad thing… but I honestly dont know too much about titles+tags… and I realllyyy need help from someone who can tell me what to do…

I called the lady from the titles and tags place, and she said its no big deal, I can just order a duplicate if anything happens… BUT, I dont think she understands the severity of my fathers bipolarness… he seriously is two different people… she only met the polite kind one…she doesnt know how deep and manicale he can be.

im just wondering… do I have anything to worry about?
