The Obsession with Hair Weaves

Ok, I am an African-American girl who sometimes wear (braids or sew-in weaves) but my hair grows fast and people tell me “You I have a lot of hair, so why do I you wear hair weaves?” And my answer would just be…” I just want my hair to grow” I have a friend at school and she ALWAYS wear hair weaves and if I don’t wear any she’ll always say…”why don’t you get a sew-in weave?” But I like my natural hair I’ve had it all my life it’s not to short nor too long it’s just right, (I don’t lilke long weave/hair) I haven’t really seen my friend sport her natural hair. And I’m beginnig to think that she wants to wear it to look pretty, but you can look just as pretty without it right? **Right now I am wearing twists/braids but not a sew in weave. This allows my hair to grow instead of it breaking off in the winter time and I needed a break from all the heat I put in my hair. Please do anyone have any suggestions to this comment?

Answer #1

Just don’t wear your weaves on a constant basis. I know sometimes weaves or easier to maintain than your natural hair, but weaves can do a lot of damage to your hair. Try wearing your hair more often, it will save you a lot of money as well.

Answer #2

well its up to you if you want to wear them or not if your friend does, good for her but your not her, and shes not you she should respect your decision wetaher you choose to wear one or not because life isnt worth spent talking and worrying about hair weaves if you want to wear one, ewear one if you dont, dont

Answer #3

IF YOUR FRIEND FEELS SHE LOOKS GOOD IN HER WEAVE AND IT MAKE HER FEEL CONFIDENT, GREAT FOR HER. MORE WOMEN NEED TO TRY DIFFERENT WAYS OF MAKING THEIR SELVES LOOK MORE BEAUTIFUL. NATURAL DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERYBODY, THATS WHY THEY HAVE MAKE OVER SHOWS.
