Should my friend get this tattoo if she wants to be a doctor?

So I’m asking this for a friend. She wants to get a tattoo of a star on her wrist, she just doesn’t know how that would go over if she becomes a doctor. Do you guys/girls have any advice on what she should do?

well in a profession like that I don’t think that it would go over well but still she should do what she wants.I’m a firemen and have a tattoo on my inside forearm six inches above the wrist. Its not uncommon for people in my line of work to have because its concidered a “manly” thing to do. but it still puts people off from time to time becuase I am a trusted public servant who most people are willing to trust there life too. She would have to think of it as a member of the community first. Would you want a doctor with a tat. someone you also trust with your life. Maybe her ankle, upper back, lower back, bicep, ect. would be a better choice. Or keep it covered with a long sleeve shirt or lab coat. thats what some captains make me do. Its what you make it.

the other thing she might want to think about is tattoos hurt…the wrist is a very sesitive area…and it will bleed…a lot. the color might come out weird. Just be sure you dont take her drinking first cause then it blleds more.

why a star, does it have any meaning? She should think im getting a tattoo in case she regrets it!!

Certain people might not respect her opinion as much if they see a tattoo. It is a bit old fashioned to think that way - but the truth is that people still do. As a doctor she is also likely to treat older people - and they often don’t agree with tattoos. I would tell her to consider getting it in a different location that could be hidden more easily - or make it small enough that a regular bandage could cover it. That way she could get it but remain professional to people who don’t agree with tattoos.
