Swelling during pregnancy

Im bout to have a baby in like 7 weeks.. Im soo excited. I have had a pretty easy pregnacy but at my job I sit in front of a computer for 8 hours and at the end of the shift my feet and legs are soo swollen that it feels like they may burst.. They are huge. I cant fit tennis shoes on. All I can wear is flip flops. I dont have an option to put my feet up at work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reduce the swelling. It doesnt hurt its just extremely unconfortable!!

Answer #1

Turn your trash can over and put your feet up on that. They HAVE to (hear me? HAVE TO) accomodate your need to put your feet up. Check out the Americans With Disabilities Act- pregnancy sometimes classifies as a disability. Take it easy. And good luck for the following weeks. Congrats on your baby. :)

Go to the old people section of a super market (were canes and pill splitters are) and look for special socks. The socks are supposed to reduce lower extremity swelling due to a weak right atrium valve (common problem for many seniors on medication).

It’s quite normal to swell in late pregnancy..I couldn’t wear shoes for a month before my first was born.

Unfortunately, other than raising the legs, there isn’t much you can do to stop it…it’s just one of those cherished aspects of being pregnant.

…just be happy you’re not a waitress.
