What are you suppose to wear to a funeral, and what is a viewing?

All black is usually the common color that people wear to funerals. Try to cover yourself as much as you can. It just shows respect to the Funeral Home and to the person who passed away. Maybe a black skirt that goes to your knees and a black blouse that covers your cleavage would be appropiate. You can also look this up on Google Images. Just type in Funeral Attire For Women. A viewing is usually called an “Awake or a wait.” This is when you can go and see the person before waiting a long while for the funeral.

The viewing is usually held at a funeral home and is for family and friends to pay their respects to the deceased, talk to one another and find comfort with each other while they are mourning. Proper dress can be anything, depending on how casual it is. Some people wear dresses or suits and ties, but a skirt and nice top or even dress pants are probably ok. You don’t necessarily have to wear black, but darker subdued colors are best and you wouldn’t want to dress too skimpily or flashy. I’m sorry for your loss.

I don’t know what you’re “supposed” to wear. I wear whatever I want to. I usually wear jeans, a shirt, and heels. I’m not sure what a viewing is. Sorry.
