how do I stop shirts plain T-Shirts from fading???

I have some shirts that might have lettering on them and if they start to fade I just get a marker and color them in and soon they look almost new again

wash them in cold water and keep them with the same color clothes

hand wash, hang dry, use woolite or wash in cold water only, hang dry
