How, if possible, can i stop being obsessed with numbers?

I think i have OCD to the numbers 3 and 7. For example, like right now- i’ll be chewing gum and i have to put it in the middle of my mouth chew 1,2,3 move it to the right side chew 1,2,3 then the left 1,2,3 see- so basically there are THREE 1,2,3’s if you count what i just typed. I’M DRIVING MYSELF INSANE! I’ve been this way ever since i was little, and over the years it’s only gotten worse. Other things is that i have to swallow 1,2,3 three times as well- that happens sometimes though, like when i’m thinking about it. Or even breathe in the same pattern! I also have to have everything made even, like if i’m typing or something and i hit the wrong key with my index finger, and i hit that key hard then i gotta do the other one like that. And if something happens like my arm flexes, then i gotta make it flex again and again until it gets softer( i know that doesn’t make since but idk how to explain it) Or i absolutely HAVE to touch something that my mind tells me to touch or i’ll feel guilty, b/c when i was like 8 or 9 or so, we were at Toys R Us and my mind told me to touch this one toy and i never did, and i’ve remembered that ever since and i haven’t been able to let it go and i need help but idk what to do!!! Can someone plz tell me if this is OCD and what to do for it???

You probably have a mild form of OCD. If it is not affecting your life in a negative way, it shouldn’t be a big deal. But if it is bothering you, I would seek therapy.

I forgot one: Time. I will be on the computer, look at the time like for example 7:15. Then in my mind i say 7:15, look at my Dad’s alarm clock and it says 7:21 so in my mind i say 7:21 according to my Dad’s alarm clock, the look BACK at the computer and it still says 7:15 so in my mind i would say 7:15 according to my computer or the computer what ever suits me at that moment. And if it’s like 7:15(or whatever time, this is an example of course) and it changes to 7:16 and i see that happen, i have to announce out loud 7:16 just now according to this clock right here in whatever room.

Umm well I think you have OCD and I’m pretty sure I do to but for me it’s nothing bad at all.when it comes to video games I’m a perfectionist like I need to unlock everything do very challenge etc no matter how much I don’t like the game I have to finish it…so I know my case(if it is OCD not just me being a nerd) is childish/nerdish but it’s still annoying. Anyway I’ve just sort of accepted it as a part of who I am. Again my thing isn’t serious and I’m sure it’s not the same process but it is similar so just accept the whole numbers thing(can’t really help out with the touching thing sorry)

Ahhh. That exact same thing happend to me and with the number 3 too. I count everytime I brush my teeth or my hair or when I put on deodorant. And if I touc something with one hand I have to do the exact thing with the other. Both sides os my body have to be even or I feel weird. Also when I walk my feet can’t touc cracks on the groud or I feel uneven. there is so many more things I could say. But anyways I’m pretty sure what you have is a case of OCD. I’ve told my mom to help me or take me to a psychologist or something but she dosent take me seriouse and thinks its nothing..

Yes it could be some kind of OCD. Specially because you started and it got worse with time. The best to cure that is to try to stop your actions slowly, try to catch yourself when you are doing it, and try to stop so it does not continue. I dont know but if you figure it out let me kno my hubby takes every number in his head and can do anything with it, and if you tell him a number to remember he will NEVER forget it.
