I totally agree man. They need to keep guns away from crazy ppl. not everyone.

Because of the anti gun laws over here in the UK i’ve grown up thinking that gun were bad. That’s just my upbringing, I’m not stating it as fact.

Same. I mean, I’m in Canada and most the gun violence we hear about is about the US or other countries. It’s not like we have zero gun violence, but in comparison?

Of course it’s not the guns … they certainly don’t jump up and start shooting themselves off - nobody has ever claimed that guns, alone, were to blame.

The problem is that the US makes it so easy to put these guns into the hands of people who are a threat. Banning guns is not the answer, however, you really do need stricter gun laws. If you want to continue crying out your rights and that every American should own a gun, don’t pretend to be surprised when things like mass shootings and killing innocent children occur.

With every right and freedom comes responsibility. If a gun owner is negligent than they should be responsible for any bad outcomes. Humans are generally bad at doing cost benefit analysis. In the case of guns most people greatly overestimate firearm benefits and underestimate firearm liabilities. We are required to have auto insurance because negligent drivers can cause more damage than they could afford to repay. It makes sense to me to require insurance for firearm owners. If you can convince an insurance company that you are low enough risk to insure than you can have a firearm; if they think you are too risky than no insurance for you. Insurance would guaranty that gun owners can deal with liabilities stemming from their guns.

They should a person should take a lie detector test and be medically examined by a highly trained doctor so they can know If the person Is Insane or not.

I think that’s an exceptionally valuable idea

I think the fact that it’s easy for citizens to get guns is good because people that are mentally ill and have plans of doing illegal things with their gun will get a gun whether its legal or not. If you make it hard for everyone to get a gun then only the ones that want to do something illegal with the gun will have one and all the law abiding citizens won’t have anything to protect themselves.
