Soccer boots/cleats

What does the MG or FG at the end of a shoe/boot name stand for?

I thought it was for.. Forwards.. or midfielders.. for the first initial.. but am I right? I’m not sure.

Answer #1

I dont no could it mean male or female possibly

Answer #2

oh yeah! didn’t think of that! that’s definitly possible. good.. cause mine had the MG at the end. haha and I play center forward so, hopefully that’s what they mean. I wanted side laces.. or a lace cover. but oh well. I’ll see how they work. they were only $40

Answer #3

nevermind, I think I figured it out! Hard Ground, Firm Ground! haha.. sweet.

Answer #4

It refers to the ground type the studs on the sole of your cleats are designed for.

FG - firm ground SG - soft ground HG - hard ground MG - appropriate for most fields.

The difference between all of them is the placement of the studs and the angles they’re placed in. Different placement and angles offer better footing.

Answer #5

yep, thanks! I want to get some F50.8 or F50.9 Tunit’s sometime. probably this summer when I go to a soccer camp. I first got Firm Ground boots, now I ordered some Hard Ground boots. from Soccer.com great place to get them from. anyway, thanks.
