smoking & baby(please answer asap)

Hi all, I’m 4 months pregnant. I tell my midwife everything including that I used to smoke heavily(weed cigarettes) I’ve stopped the weed, it’s just the cigs that’s killing me. I have cut down extremely tho because I’m only smoking one a day, and I wish I wasn’t even doing that!! I feel so guilty because I’m destroying not only myself, but my baby and that’s all that I’m worred about at this point because if my baby turns out to be a premie I won’t know how to look at it or face it everyday because it will be all my fault and I know I won’t do anything but cry when I look into it’s eyes. If I quit smoking now, will there be a better outcome of a higher chance of my baby coming out healthy? My midwife always congrats me on cutting back but I won’t more than a congrats I want to stop!! Someone please give me the best adivce that you can doctor or not I just want to know if I quit now will there be a higher risk of my baby being healthy and weighing the regular 6 to 7 pounds like the average newborns??!?!?!?! (im going insane!)

princessxx is right if you quite now it would be harder on your baby and you. I suggest talking to your midwife and letting her know your concerns

Answer #2

I smoked throughout my pregnancy. when my baby girl was born, she was slightly underweight. but that was because I didnt really know that I was pregnant and I didnt have the money to get prenatal care. so I wasnt on vitamins, etc.. so your baby should be fine. it may be slightly underweight, but not by much.

hope this has helped!!

Yeah, I think if you quit now, you have a better chance of having a healthier baby, because in the end they wont have as much nicotine in em.

smoking as well as drinking can also cause birth defects in your develping child but congradulations on cutting back so much you realy do need to try to stop smoking completely though at leats untill the baby is born we cant tell you if your baby is going to come out healthy or not though youll need to see a doctor and get some tests done to find that out and see if its healthy

I’m sure your baby will be just fine, you’ve already done so much to be proud of. If you quit it may actually be hard on your body becuase then you will be stressed out by not having that one smoke a day. If you think it would be best for yourself and your baby then just give up that one smoke a day…but if you need it to atleast relax yourself then do it… or you could always try keeping busy and chewing gum to keep your mouth and hands occupied. Best of luck.
