Can I skip active birth control pills?

Because my period will be timed right for the days my boyfriend and i are planning to hangout and i REALLY don’t want to be on my period. Could I skip 3-4 active pills so I will get my period sooner?

Being on birth control is bad enough for your body, you’re changing and messing with the natural flow of things and the chemicals in your body. i dont think your body will respond quick enough for you to get your period sooner, depending on how long you’ve been on the pill and how much it has built up in your body. Going on and off of the pill, even if it’s just one time probbly isnt a good idea and I doubt your plan of having your period sooner will work out. f you do try it, I hope it works out in your favor, nut i’m not sure how likely that is.

Being on birth control is not bad for your body. I’ve had all the talks with my GP and read leaflets and had lots of information about all the various types of birth control (e.g. microgynon, dianette, the diprovera shot etc) and there are small almost unnoticeable side-affects that can occur with ones taken in pill form. Don’t skip active pills. I’d say just skip the inactives and move straight on to the next pack. That’s what I do when I don’t want mine. This won’t hurt you, it just means that your next bleed is likely to be a bit heavier and maybe your cramps will hurt a tiny bit more. But it’s worth it. DON’T skip actives, just don’t have your inactives. If you have any more questions about birth control free to ask

thank you!

Answer #4

No problem! I get hyper when I research stuff so I know a lot about all of it, so like I said, feel free to ask if you’ve got any more questions :)

Answer #5

I’ve heard you can skip your inactives and it’s not too terrible for you. So long as you don’t try to skip every period.

Answer #6

I agree with the above advice. She is correct. Rather just skip the inactive ones and start with a next pack. Just however do make sure from your doctor or nurse or pharmacist that the pills you are on can do that.

There are risks with everything you take. Birth Control is no exception. While you will hear people older than you saying “you have to have a period, that’s your body releasing toxins” they are incorrect. The bleeding you have while taking birth control (your off week) is considered “withdrawl” bleeding, not an actual period. It is withdrawl bleeding because your body is used to taking a hormone everyday and when you stop it goes through withdrawls. So there is no medical reason to go through “withdrawl” bleeding. A normal period is your body’s way of getting ready for a baby. If you were on no pills at all, that would be the bleeding you have, which is the lining of the uterus and unfertilized eggs “shedding” from your body. When you take BC pills it stops this process. So make sure to talk to your doctor about your particular pills, or even consult the local Pharmacist. I did this. Instead of getting the pills designed for extended use (seasonale and seasonique) I just didnt take the week off pills and started my next pack, every time. I dont take weeks off…ever. My dr said it’s alright and I am sure yours will too, just make sure first! Take care!
