Skinny boxer dog(bitch)

My boxer is 5 years old and has always been very thin, she has no health problems, but you can see all her spine and when she curls up you can see her ribs. She is the right weight, and is very energetic and quite tall. I am fed up with people either saying what a lovely puppy, or are you feeding your dog any help please

we have a 3 yr old female boxer and we feel the same way…I feel like people that dont know use are like, “dont you feed her?” She has been tested for worms, and treated. They were transferred from her mom. That was 2 years ago.She has been losing more weight lately, so we have an apt. friday to get more tests done. I did hear its common in females. It is frusterating when people judge and dont know u, and If someone is going to invest time and energy into a boxer, then why would they just simply starve them, come on…really…

Answer #4

I think that its so skinny because you said it was very energetic so that could be the problem…feed it more than you are now

Answer #5

I would say she needs to be wormed. Not Walmart wormer, but go to your Vet’s and have her stool checked and have them check to see what worms she has. Let’s hope it is that or the food she is eating.

Do not be offended when I mention worms, for a dog they are a fact of life and dogs should be wormed monthly for them. Worms are picked up so easily and there are so many different kinds that effect the dogs health and weight, taking vital nutrition from your pet and or dehydrating them. Worms are also the least of your concerns. I would rather get a worm diagnoses, than some of the other illness that can cause weight loss.

It is not uncommon for Boxer when they are young to be thin, but a 5 year old female Boxer should be very well filled out. Some even have over weight problems at 5.

My Male Boxer at 5 was very Buff. One of my female Boxers, which is now five has always been a little chunky. I would say your Boxer has something going on and you really need to consult with your Vet.
