shitz zu won't eat after spine surgery
My friend came back from vacation and found her dog dragging her two back feet , dunno what happened to her , took her to the vet and had to go into surgery something about a disc on her spine , surgery was succesful and vet kept her for about 4 days , she won’t eat anything she drinks water but thats it , she ate a lil bit cereal but refuses everything we try to feed her , chicken,fruit, everything we could think of .she cant move her 2 back feet , vet says she should be able to recover in 1 month if not she will need a wheelchair ,
what can we do in order for her to eat ?? thnks for the help !
Keep feeding her cereal. Just give her whatever works for her. Understand that she’s probably in a serious amount of pain, confusion and depression. For many of us that ruins our appetite and ability to keep food down. She obviously had something traumatic happen to her and she is recovering - give her time, be patient and loving.
Try to feed her chicken or turkey stage one baby food. It’s gentle on her stomach yet it still gives her the sustenance she needs to keep her energy levels up.
