Unfortunately, seizures may develop immediately after an injury to the brain or may develop in delayed fashion, showing up months or years after the initial trauma. Generally speaking, the risk of post traumatic seizures is related to the severity of the injury- the greater the injury, the higher the risk of developing seizures. Even the most minor to moderate injuries can result in seizures. The most commonly seen seizures related to traumatic brain injury are "generalized" seizures, which are also called "Tonic-Clonic" or "Grand Mal" seizures
Accidents or injuries are likely to cause seizures. A seizure is a sudden sudden movement of electrical activity in the brain that usually affects how a person feels or acts for a short time. A doctor should run a ECG test to see wether a person will have any more seizures.
Seizures are quite common after receiving a head injury...your boyfriend had a concussion, right? They're usually quite temporary, but the doctors will certainly check to make sure there is no intracranial hemorrhaging.
