What is a scantron?

Ive used them for most of my state exams its a special kind of answer sheet on an exam that they put through a machine and the machine calculates the results of the test.

From what I know it is a type of exam paper. There are multiple choice questions of which all you have to do I shade in the answer of the question you want. This is then scanned and it makes it easier to mark exam papers.
