Where did salsa, and tango (dances) originate from?

I’ve always wanted to learn both of them, but I don’t think that’s ever gonna happen.

salsa: cuba and puerto rico tango: rio de la plata :)

sry i’m wrong just looked it up online, it started in cuba with a mix of african drum and latin guitar. The term salsa was placed in US
