Why the restrictions on posting links on FunAdvice?

Its not about us wanting to be strict. The 100 point rule came into action due to spammers coming on the site only to promote their websites, cause trouble, or spam our boards with links. In order to get 100 points you actually have to earn them and prove you are a valuable and real member of the site. The site has been so much better since this rule came into action and the spam is almost not even noticeable where as before they would take over the boards and aggrivate the members.

FunAdvice doesn’t allow new users to post links until they have earned enough points to prove they are trustworthy members.

A lot of new members sign up only to advertise, or spam the site with links to their websites. So, they made it to where you have to earn the privilege to post links to prevent advertising and spamming on this site. People who only sign up to advertise or spam the site aren’t going to take the time to earn the privilege to post links, therefore, it keeps them from doing it.

It’s not that the FunAdvice Administrators are strict, it’s just they like to provide their members with the best experience possible, and provide a great website without spamming, advertising, etc… other websites do not always do this, or care so much about their members.
