How do I remove the "Win 7 Security 2012" virus?

I found out that I have a virus that is pretending to be Windows security and it won’t allow me on the Internet (I’m on an iPhone). Does anyone know how to remove it?

Answer #1

Well I had a similar problem with my dad’s laptop except he had the vista version. I did something like this (ignore where it says vista, it should work the same):

Windows Vista

Using the F8 Method:

  1. Restart your computer.

  2. When the computer starts you will see your computer’s hardware being listed. When you see this information start to gently tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Windows Vista Advanced Boot Options.

3.Select the Safe Mode with Networking option using the arrow keys.

Then press the enter key on your keyboard to boot into Vista Safe Mode.
  1. When Windows starts you will be at a typical logon screen. Logon to your computer and Vista will enter Safe mode. ‘
  2. go to start/All programs/ Accessories/System tools/ System Restore

Knock it back to before you got the virus.

Sorry if this doesn’t work - it does for some, doesn’t for others :s

Answer #2

If that doesn’t work you need to get onto another computer, download a free virus onto a memory stick then transfer back onto the infected computer to do a full scan.

If the first option does work though you still definitely need to do a full scan and possibly look into a new virus protector =].

The rogue removal will be easier if you used these activation codes to “register” the rogue:

2233-298080-3424 3425-814615-3990 9443-077673-5028

Remember - this is just to stop pop-ups.
