Running 12was miles helped but they are still pretty sore
Three words: stretch stretch and stretch more. I am a competitive cheerleader ao trust me i know all about sore muscles. Of corse let them rest, try taking a bath in epsom salts, then once you cam handle gently stretch the sore muscles. In order to prolong flexibility holt stretches for long times ( 60 seconds and up) it may take time but the soreness WILL go away. If it doesent see a doc you may have pulled a muscle.
Try relaxing in a tub of warm water for a couple of hours
or try to give it some time for it to heal.

To help sore muscles try heat. A warm bath or a icy hot massage. Heat helps relax muscles
Hot bath with epsom salts in it
