Is there any good reason why hot foods are ineligible to get with food stamps?

Really im curious about that i mean what does it hurt if people have food stamps and get a sandwich cold or hot that doesnt make a big difference still is the same sandwich i can get it cold and put it in a microwave in the same store i mean that is not a smart regulation. what do you think i would like to know thank you.

Because they are more expensive. If you’re on food stamps, you need to be buying the cheap stuff. Hot food is not necessary for survival.

I went 2 weeks with less than $30 to feed myself. Bread, tuna, and chicken sure does get old, but I wasn’t making enough money to provide for luxuries.

Food stamps were intended for those who have so little income that every penny counts in their ability to stretch their eating dollars. Hot prepared foods as posted, cost more and you get less. Unfortunately the government can’t control and set perfect guidelines to the abuses of it, despite their efforts. Such as they found out when one man who won the big lottery and was on food stamps continued after he won his fortune… to utilize his food share program and the government couldn’t stop him because the lottery was not considered an earned income. There are enough loop holes already of people utilizing the system to take which was intended for those who truly need it without adding to the problem of them going to Red Lobster.
