Problem playing my laptop on my tv

I have windows vista basic and I connect to my tv. Then the desk top shows up on my tv, but then it just keeps flashing on and off. Both on the tv and the laptop.

You checked the wires are connected properly, also the plastic bit by the plug move that around a bit because it might have distorted the wires slightly so you might just have to knock them back into place :)

check the wires.make sure they are plugged in properly.if the problem persists,then exchange the cord and if it still persists then either the port on your tv or laptop is bad
