Does this poem help you paint a mental picture of what the words are saying?

Basically, is it a good imagery poem?:

Coming Home to Spring

Colorful jewels spring from the earth, Dotting the emerald fields with petals. Bees fly from ruby to sapphire, Whispering secrets to the wind.

The sky is an ocean of baby blue With ships made of cotton floating in its waves. Trees stand tall like thrones of great kings, Where scarlet crested birds sing.

I am thankful that it is spring, For the cool nights that twinkle, And the warm days that glow. Thankful to have you here with me.

Lucky to have what I have, Lucky to be coming home again, I know that spring time will never end, When you are my best friend.

It’s a really good poem but I would say the appeal is more to figurative language than imagery. What you want to keep in mind about imagery is that it evokes the use of our senses and the only one that I was really using to read this poem was my eyesight. What you could try for each metaphor is say how they feel, the textures, and if they make noises – like the bees – mention that too. This is just something you want to keep in mind with this kind of poetry. Really good poem by the way :) I like it :)
