Why do people always tell others to take a picture smiling?

what if they have nothing to smile about? do people want them to put on a mask and hide their pain??

Answer #1

I really agree with this!

Answer #2

THATS WHAT MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND. FAKE SMILES AND DIRTY WORDS BEHIND EACH OTHER’S BACKS

Answer #3

Well, usually this occurs in events that are usually with groups, and taking pictures are a way of keeping a record of a certain event, and usually happier events are wanted to be remembered. Since these happy events are being captured on camera, it would only make sense to take pictures of happy people, otherwise nothing matches up. It would also be a bit upsetting if someone were to look through a photo album and see one person frowning, compared to other people in the photo. If you wanted to avoid this, because you want to be real about yourself, you should talk to the photo taker and hopefully, if he/she has an open mind, they’ll understand your pain. (this goes for anybody in general, not really you)

Answer #4

Because it look’s nice when ppl smile, more approachable and nice, most ppl look better when they smile.

Answer #5

I take a picture when nobody is then I say, ok every1 smile, and take another ^^

Answer #6

well ive noticed on this site many people dont have photos of themselves smiling and people tell them to post pictures of them smiling so the whole remember able thing doesnt really come into play.

Answer #7

Ah that’s a different situation. I guess it’s because people care more about being comfortable and seeing happy things then the photo poser’s attitude or emotions. They want to feel comfortable, but they’re being selfish at the same time.

Answer #8

Well, babies smile when they’re happy.

I don’t suppose that’s a fake smile, right?

Smiling, frowning, crying, that’s all part of our instinct.

Answer #9

babies dont really count all the have to worry about is getting their diaper changed and fed

Answer #10

AND THATS WHY BABIES AREN’T WHAT MAKES THE WORLD SPIN.

Answer #11

Everyone is more attractive when they smile. At least, if it’s genuine.

Answer #12

When I see people who frown, I find that I tend to feel sad as well. I always tend to wonder why they’re unhappy, you know? We all have things that upset us, things to worry about, and things that genuinely make us feel like there’s nothing to smile about. I find, though, that we all also tend to overlook the good things we have in the process. There are things to smile about, if you think about it. People just like to see that side of you.. the side that’s happy about things.

I don’t personally ever tell anyone to smile, though – I honestly think that everyone’s entitled to take whatever pictures of themselves that they want. They aren’t taking pictures of themselves to please me, so if I don’t like it, that’s too bad. I expect the same respect from others.. If you don’t like it, don’t look.
