Paralysis of cat

My cat is at the vet suffering from paralysis from tick bites. It turns out some ticks are like poisonous snakes. They secrete a deadly neurotoxin. She will probably die. Does anyone have any advice?

she may just snap out of it. I’ve heard of dogs getting paralized by ticks, and once they are removed the paralisis goes away.

Sending positive thoughts to you and your kitty.

Cats are pretty tough, hang in there. Make sure you give the vet a shirt that you wore or a blanket that has yoru scent on it. It would help the cat to relax more. I will say a prayer for you. Good luck.

Answer #3

She could possibly get rid of the poison in her system through her kidneys cleaning the blood…I’ve heard of cats surviving it…just think positive and make sure she gets the best vet care you can provide.

For the future, there are topical medicines such as “Frontline” and “K9 Advantix” that prevent fleas and ticks for this very purpose. You use them on the cat once per month. Also, there are tick collars called “Preventic” that last up to 4 months and keep away ticks. I use them on my dogs.

Good luck.
