PARAKEET HELP

last nite my grandpa got a new parakeet, and, unlike the last one he had, this one is not hand-fed. it’s incredibly scared and flaps all over his cage. will he ever be tame enough to take out of his cage and hold like the hand-fed one? and also, this morning we found his left wing was bloody and there were blood stains on his perch. is this from illness or just hitting the cage so hard flying around?

yeah u should be able to tame the bird u just have to sing to it alot and reach ur hand in there maybe once a week. but its gonna hurt like a bitch if he bites, but u can also grab him and pet him softly on the head and when he lets u do that sometimes u can set him on u and he will stay there and pet him when he is on u it shouldnt take to long just gotta work with it, and no he probably just scratched his wing from doing that cause i’ve had a lot of birds thru out the past and been thru the same stuff

The parakeet just needs time to adjust to everything. Watch it and see if it is flying around too much. It could be that he was banging into the cage walls. I haven’t heard of an illness like this but to be sure you could call the vet, if it were me I would watch and see how the parakeet was acting.

New places are hard for some animals to adjust to especially if they haven’t been moved very often. Patience and caring should eventually help the parakeet feel more comfortable with you and it’s new surroundings.

If you see a lot of blood or the bleeding continues thake the parakeet to the vet to see if it hurt itself too much.
