Our rights regarding purchasing a car without rwc

We have purchased a car in queensland and it was advertised with a rego but no rwc. When we paid the deposit there was no mention of it not having a rwc but now we are stuck with a lot of repairs required to get the road worthy certificate. Any advise on the matter?

I would go back to the seller and demand my money back. Here in Victoria, and I guess the same would apply in Queensland, the Police clamp down hard on unroadworthy vehicles.
