Organic Chemistry

What jobs (specific please) can I have if I go into Organic Chemistry??

Answer #1

Organic chemists at all levels are employed by pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, consumer product, petroleum, and other industries from small to very large. There are hundreds of various industries that employ Organic Chemists. Research and development is the primary opportunity in industry. Research universities that grant Ph.D.s have excellent teaching and research opportunities for Ph.D. chemists, many of whom will have post-doctoral training. Liberal arts colleges and universities also employ mostly Ph.D. chemists where excellent teaching and research are encouraged and rewarded. Government labs also employ organic chemists.

There are just too many specific jobs to list here. You might go online and check out some of the placement agencies to check the diversity of careers employing Organic Chemists.

Answer #2

As a research chemist, you’ll need a minimum of 5 years experience relating to the major of organic chemistry, but other than that I don’t know any other “specific job” that specifically relates to organic chemistry.
