Which operating system has the greatest performance, Microsoft Windows, Apple OS X, or OpenSource Linux?

I’ve only ever used Windows and Mac, and I’d say it depends on what you want it for. If your focus is design and music etc then Apple is probably better, but I’ve always preferred Windows. I find macs pretentious and you don’t get your money’s worth. Especially since Windows 7. I haven’t found fault with it yet and I’ve been using it since it came out. It’s very safe and has really cool gadget thingies like the snap tool and stuff. I love it. I haven’t heard of OpenSource Linux, but that’s my opinion on apple vs windows :)

I prefer Mac OS X because it’s easy to use, has a great user interface, it cant get viruses, the Mac computers last a long time, and are built very well.

I use Ubuntu Linux and I have found it does everything I need it to do, I do have to run a virtual Windows PC inside of it, but that is only because my work network encryption only works with it.

Well I have been using it both the desktop version and the server. The server version has no gui so I would not get that one. I have been running it for 3 years and have yet to get a virus or ad-ware with no anti-virus or ad-ware software. My wife also uses this but there is a learning curve, and I would not recommend it you are a big gamer.

I set mine up like this for a bit, but I have since turned down the effects, a little to much for me.

When I was a System Admin about 5 years ago our marketing department used Mac, and I do agree it is nice, but it never seemed to play well with Windows at that time.

I hate Mac and windows. I have only heard good things about linux, however I am too computer illiterate to actually use it myself.

im using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and its the fastest thing ive had the pleasure of using.

apple is overrated and goes like an old mans hankie and ive never even used it

Between Windows and Apple, I prefer Apples OS to windows. Just a personal preference, I tried out a Mac 2 years ago and never went back, although I still run bootcamp so I can play games once in a while. Both are decent operating systems, it’s all in what you prefer, go and try out OSX and see what you think, see if a friend has one that you can mess around on, or go to an Apple store and try it out, you can’t knock it till you try it. Only downside is the lack of games.

I am a windows server engineer, but for my home and servers I run Ubuntu Linux.
